337 I like another reviewer found the title of this book a little misleading. There are obviously differences of opinions on the subject of eschatology and there always will be. Although the book contains allot of information about what everybody thinks I felt it was lacking at answering the title of the book. There are more books on this topic out there than can be counted. If as the preterist position contends that we take Jesus at his word, and the rest of scripture as well, and I see no reason not to, then the scriptures were fulfilled in the first century. We can either align our understanding of the scriptures with the time passages and scripture as the preterist do, or we can twist everything around to try and make it fit our literal understanding of things like the first century Jewish people did for the most part and we all know the results of that thinking. I would have liked to have seen Sproul mention some of the other preterist writers like Don Preston who has given us a wealth of information on this subject in his numerous books on the subject. Obviously Sproul seems to be just trying to acquaint the readers of this book with various takes on things instead of driving at a definitive conclusion as the title of the book would imply. I would still recommend this book for the general information contained in it, but I would not recommend it if one is seeking to understand scripture and what the biblical last days were all about. It is my opinion that scripture clearly teaches that the last days had to do with the passing away of Israel's Old Covenant Law of Moses and the arrival of the New Covenant of life of Christ promised to them by God. God's plan of salvation for all mankind. Paul said he taught nothing but the resurrection hope of Israel, which he clearly tied to the New Covenant that he said the remnant were already obtaining. The Hebrew writer clearly shows there was a transitioning of this process that took place in the first century that consummated in 70 AD. All the time passages in the New Testament, including Revelation, seem to agree with this if we take them verbatim and not twist them all around to fit our understanding of things. Bottom line, if our understanding of things don't fit the time passages, then we need to realign our understanding of scripture instead of trying to realign the time passages. If we can't believe Christ and what he and scripture said would happen in the first century, then who can you believe?
